worst-video-cover-ever

I recently posted a picture of the worst video cover ever.

CAUTION: Do not read any further if you have somehow not seen Night of the Living Dead (unless you just don't care about spoilers).

Drum roll, please…

Here was my post:

Worst video cover ever! #spoileralert

#spoilers #vhs #nightofthelivingdead #halloween #horrormovies #zombies

If you’ve seen Night of the Living Dead, you know this is an image from the end of the film. It tells you they killed our hero, spoiling one of the most tragic endings you’ve ever seen on film.

The first time you see this film, you’re rooting for Ben (Duane Jones) as he fights his way through a horde of zombies. Just when you think he’s rescued, one of those would-be rescuers mistakes him for a zombie and shoots Ben, killing him.

Shakespeare level tragedy.

The image, of course, is a dead Ben being tossed onto the pile of dead zombies.

This is a problem I see in most previews today. They give away too much, and spoil some of the best moments.

I know they’re trying to get us to watch it, but giving me the CliffNotes version of the movie isn’t how I want to be sold it.

Leave some to the imagination!

Speaking of which, the spoiler headlines are lame, too!

It’s like when you record the game and someone tells you the final score before you get to watch it. You know, it takes away some of the excitement you get to feel on the journey.

I’m sort of a hypocrite, though.

The main image for the pro wrestling episode of Beyond Geek features my “big” spoiler for that episode: Dan in the ring with Brittni.

Brittni was the host of this episode, but we brought in Dan to be her Tag Team partner. Dan was already a pro wrestler, and I thought it would be awesome having two of the Beyond Geek hosts wrestling against Sir Samurai and World Champion Wrestler Christina Von Eerie.

How am I a hypocrite? Well, it’s not revealed until the end of the episode that Dan is even going to be in the episode.

I did initially hold back images of Dan, but after a ton of airings, I decided it was time to go with the images I liked more than worrying about anything it might take away from the experience.

Click here to watch that episode AKA Beyond Geek - High Flying Smackdown!

Let me know how you feel about spoilers... and feel free to bag on me for spoiling things.

Until next time, may you not find out the end of your favorite movie until you watch it.

Joe
