I let you guys decide on my Halloween costume this year, and you picked Michael Myers, so the Trick-or-Treaters in my neighborhood were welcomed by The Shape himself.

Don’t worry, I didn’t actually have the butcher's knife when the little kiddos came a knocking.

It’s a good thing, because the first kid didn’t go so well.

Poor kid was scared, even though Rachel (my wife) was there reassuring him that I was the “nice” Michael Myers (she obviously hasn’t watched the films 😂).

So I did the best “nice” Michael Myers I could do, loading him up with extra candy as a way to try to bribe him into liking me (it didn’t work).

Rachel began to second guess your costume choice… 😉

Then the next set of kids came to the door. It went better, but they were still a little scared, even though they tried not to show it.

That’s when Rachel thought that maybe I shouldn’t accompany her to the door anymore… at least not with the mask on.

She felt I was too scary for the kids, so I agreed to let her look out the peephole next time and I would fall back if the kids were too young.

It was about to be three strikes and I was out.

Then there was a huge dry spell.

After an hour or so, the knock finally came.

She looked out the peephole and only saw the two older kids, so I walked up behind her as she opened the door… and that’s when she spotted the little Spider-Man who was younger or at best the same age as the first one that was afraid of me.

Rachel tried to convince them I was “nice”… then the youngest one began to scream as I placed a handful of candy in his hand—but this time it was out of excitement.

“Michael Myers!!! Michael Myers!!! Where’s my mask? Where’s my mask?” He asked his parent, dropping his candy on the ground.

Turns out that little Spider-Man had a Michael Myers mask in his bag.

I've got to say that this Michael Myers was grinning from ear-to-ear under the mask.

The kid masked up and one of the parents took a photo of the two Michael Myers having the time of their lives.

They were the last group to visit our house that night, but it was all worth it for that one kid.

It was the first time I have ever gone as Michael Myers for Halloween, and I am so glad I did. You guys definitely made the right choice (although my wife wants to ban Michael Myers from our house because I scared too many of the kids).

Until next Halloween, may all your scares go as great as this one!

Joe

P.S. You can watch my last outing as Michael Myers on Odin Makes: Michael Myers knife from Halloween 1978.
